The School of Education (ECDE) today had a benchmarking exercise at Stepping Stones School, Thika.

The exercise was to prepare them for teaching practice under the new curriculum as they finish their college education.

They familiarized themselves with the new Competency based Curriculum (CBC) that has been adopted by the Ministry of Education which Stepping Stones School is already practicing.

CBC was designed by the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) and launched by the ministry of education in 2017. The CBC is designed to emphasize the significance of developing skills and knowledge and also applying those competencies to real life situations.

The new KNEC curriculum will see entries into the ECDE program pursue only Diploma and higher courses. The minimum entry grade for this course will be C PLAIN (including Math and English) starting September this year.

CBC is divided into three levels namely; Early Years Education, Middle School Education and Senior School.
